The Winner was announced at 6 pm CDT on June 17, 2011 during the celebration of the Icelandic National Day hosted by the HI-Winnipeg Downtowner hostel.

This photos shows us the idyllic landscape of the prairies in Canada. It carries with it soft calmness and we can almost hear rustling of the leaves in the breeze. The composition and structure of the photo is good, the light and the not-typically-blue sky is interesting. It also raises the question of how the winter is Manitoba and how immigrants experienced the first years in Manitoba, so it makes the mind wander to the past.

Sigurjón - a professional photographer; has traveled many places in Canada, stayed in BC with his brother who has lived there for 35 years now.
