HI-Montréal Youth Hostel for the "Food for Thought - Cuisine of the World" program 

Healthy Food is the Focus! For healthy dietary alternatives, travelers are invited to discover Quebec's regional food items as well as recipes from all over the world. Flags, traditional music, posters and tourist information are provided free of charge by embassies and consulates - a little addition to the atmosphere. A healthy meal prepared all together and the recipe is given to all participants at the end of the activity.

HI-Shunda Creek for the "5th Annual Nordegg Tri-Ice-A-Thon" program, February 25-27, 2005

This annual event is now 5 years running, it is organized and hosted by HI-Shunda Creek along with two other operators in the Nordegg area, Center for Outdoor Education and Frontier Lodge.  It is a 2-day event, it starts on Saturday where the competitors are divided into 3 teams, each team made up of various skill levels.  Each of the teams starts at one of 3 man made icewalls where there is a speed event and a skill event on which the competitors are scored.  The teams move to each of the walls through the day so that they have climbed at each wall and can potentially climb up to 18 times by the end of the day.  The Feature Climb of the day is the "Swimsuit Climb" at the HI-Shunda Creek Wall, where competitors climb the wall in the wild and craziest swimsuit.  The day ends with dinner for everyone, 2 slide shows were presented, and one by Barry Blanchard (a well known Canadian climber) and the other was put on by Parks Canada on Avalanche Safety.  Afterwards prizes are handed out for those that did not make it to the finals.  The finals are held on Sunday on natural waterfall ice.  The finals are completed by noon.  Afterwards guides are on hand to run an "ice school" for anyone looking to improve there climbing skills.
