For those interested in a relaxing get away, HI-Trinity Newfoundland is located just outside the historic merchant town of Trinity, the abandoned community of British Harbour, and the Rising Tide Theatre, an award winning theatre company that offers a "blend of drama, culture, and history".
We offer a shuttle service around the area for those traveling on foot, full laundry facilities, breakfast in the price and additional baked goods for purchase when available, and moose in the garden!
We're the perfect place to visit, whether you're excited about taking on the Atlantic in a tiny kayak, or challenging yourself on the beautiful local hikes, or you'd just like to relax, have a cup of tea, and watch an iceberg float by.

Just 30 minutes up the road from HI Trinity Newfoundland is an enormous puffin colony. Visitors are able to walk to the edge of the cliff face to watch these sea birds in their natural habitat.
This trail is a 5 kilometer linear trail ending at the beautiful Spillar's Cove, near the historic town of Bonavista. This trail follows an old railway track that connected the two towns, and offers wonderful views of the area.
Klondike is a 2 hour linear trail, located approximately 40 minutes from HI-Trinity Newfoundland.
This trail is a 17 kilometer trail which takes hikers from the town of Little Catalina to Maberly. This is a beautiful coastal trail that offers dozens of opportunities for whale watching.
This trail will take around 5 hours. The drive to Little Catalina from HI-Trinity Newfoundland is 30 minutes.
Murphey's Cove Trail
This 8 kilometer loop showcases lots of great headlands for viewing the surrounding communities, whales, seabirds, and boats out in in Trinity Bay.
The walk is moderate difficultly and takes around 3 hours. The drive to Port Union from the HI-Trinity Newfoundland will take about 30 minutes.
Fox Island Trail
The trail is a 3 kilometer loop that takes you around the scenic and historic Fox Island. This walk begins with a steep climb onto the Island and ends looking out toward beautiful Trinity Bay.
From the hostel this walk will take you around 3 hours. The walk itself is around a 1 hour loop.
The Skerwink trail has been rated the 3rd best ocean trail in Canada by Travel and Leisure Magazine, and one of the top 10 in the world. This trail is a medium level 5 kilometer track that starts less than 500 meters from our front door.
The walk normally can take between one and five hours depending how long you want to watch whales from the look out points.
