The "Queen City"

Saskatchewan's capital, the City of Regina is named after Queen Victoria, and has many gems and crown jewels. The largest crown jewel is located in the heart of Regina - Wascana Centre - one of the largest urban parks in North America covering 2300 acres. The entire park is man-made; every blade of grass, all trees, the lake and small islands are all man-made.

The Centre features bicycle, walking, cross-country skiing and hiking trails, there is a swimming pool and a waterfowl park. Within the park is the Saskatchewan Legislative Building, the largest legislative building in Canada. As well, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, home to "Scotty" one of only 12 known T-rex dinosaurs in the world is located within the Park.

RCMP Centennial Museum and Chapel
Regina is proud to be the home of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Training Academy. Throughout the year, the RCMP grounds play host to a variety of events, including the Sunset Retreat Ceremonies and the Sergeant Major's Parade. A must see for all is the RCMP Centennial Museum and Chapel.

Culture
Another gem is the Regina Symphony Orchestra, Canada's oldest continuously operating symphony. Regina boasts the First Nations University of Canada, the only educational facility of its kind in Canada. This stunning piece of architecture guarantees that the aboriginal culture will thrive for thousands years to come.

Throughout the year, Regina hosts many cultural and musical festivals, as well as sporting events. To name a few: the Regina Dragon Boat festival, Mosaic, the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, the Flatland Music festival, the Folk Festival, the RSO Outdoor Music Festival, Kona-Fest, and the Country Jamboree. All guaranteed to be fun and exciting.

People
The best part of Regina is the huge spirit of generosity that the people possess. The caring hearts and helpfulness of the people are what is most often most pronounced in the memories of visitors to Regina. Our close knit roots and dignified history will surely make an impact on you as a place that is home to real people who recognize all others as people too.
