HI Vancouver Downtown is an ideal choice for groups of all sizes wanting to stay in a quiet neighbourhood yet still within walking distance of some of Vancouver's most popular sights. Make use of the hostel's large kitchen, communal spaces and meeting rooms and choose from a variety of room configurations.

Stanley Park

Arguably Vancouver's coolest park, Stanley Park is a 405-hectare park that makes up the northwestern half of Vancouver's Downtown Peninsula that encompasses many beautiful beaches. Rent a bike and go explore it!

Granville Island Public Market

Granville Island was once a industrial wasteland but it was transformed in the 70' into a cultural, artistic and foodie hotspot. It's got a waterfront public market with more than 50 vendors, and it is often used as an artistic venue. When visiting, make sure to stroll through the Artisan district and check out the floating houses!

Getting there: from the hostel, you can either go with the fluvial ferry from the dock located behind the Aquatic Centre, walk, or take the bus.

Kitsilano Beach

Kitsilano Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Vancouver, especially in the warm summer months. Located at the north edge of the Kitsilano neighbourhood, the beach faces out onto English Bay.

Head to this bustling beach with volleyball courts in time for sunset - it's the place to be! This locals' favourite is a must-see during your stay in Vancouver.

Jericho Beach

Jericho Beach is on the north side of Jericho Park that offers a stunning view over Vancouver's skyline. The east side of the beach caters to swimmers and the west side to sailboats and windsurfers. Psst, feel free to join the free volleyball games of our other hostel HI Vancouver Jericho Beach!

Spanish Banks

Up for a long walk on the beach? Head to Vancouver most westerly neighbourhood, West Point Grey, that has a 16-acres beach that'll treat you to some sweet mountain and skyline views.

Sunset Beach

Located at the mouth of False Creek, on Beach Ave between Bute St and Thurlow St, Sunset Beach is a less populated beach close to the West End and downtown Vancouver. It is close to the Vancouver Aquatic Centre and has access to the False Creek Ferry pier.

Grouse Mountain

In summer, you can hike the steps of Grouse Mountain to enjoy the stunning views over Vancouver, visit the bear sanctuary, an enjoy a day of hiking before taking the gondola ($) down. In winter, you can head to Grouse Mountain to shred the slopes of the ski resort without leaving the Vancouver area.

Cypress Provincial Park

If you're up for some downhill skiing, head to Cypress Provincial Park - it's the biggest resort in the Vancouver area! In summer, it's great for hiking to rewarding panoramic views over Vancouver.

CF Pacific Centre

Is today shopping day? Head to the iconic CF Pacific Centre for a good shopping session - a mall in in the heart of Vancouver with hundreds of shops. Even if you're not into buying stuff, the luxious mall is a landmark to visit in itself.

Head to Canada Place to to take a classic Vancouver selfie. If you're keen to visit it, it hosts the cool FlyOver Canada experience for which you can get an exclusive discount with your HI Membership! West End Farmers Market

From May to October, forget the grocery store and head to our neighbourhood's open-air farmers market to get your produce to get cooking in the common kitchen. It's got 30+ farmers, coffee and food trucks, and is literally a few blocks away from the hostel.

If the weather makes you want to stay inside, visiting the Vancouver Art Gallery is a cool activity to do close to the hostel. It's got varied expos, a little café, and a shop.

This is where you can take the BC Ferry to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Getting there from the hostel will take you a little more than an hour by public transport with the Horseshoe Bay Express bus.

Vancouver International Airport is Vancouver's airport, located on Sea Island in Richmond. It takes about 40 minutes to get there from HI Vancouver Downtown with the Skytrain Canada Line.

Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal

Tsawwassen is a BC Ferry Terminal with ferries that go to Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. From HI Vancouver Downtown, it takes about an hour and a half to get there, with first the Canada Line and then a bus that runs every hour.
