Once more, the National Geographic magazine lists the Gaspésie as one of the top 20 worldwide destinations to visit in 2011. The only destination selected in Canada, the Gaspésie is among renowned destinations such as Italy, Japan, Greece, Alaska and Tunisia.
Taking the Gaspésie scenic route (Route 132) will give you a legendary scenic drive that loops around the huge Gaspé Peninsula. Anse-Au-Griffon (Gaspé) is a fantastic place to admire the sea and enchanting landscape of the coastline.
The Village of Anse-au-Griffon and HI-Griffon Aventure are located a few minutes away from theForillon National Park. The Park is openned year round. Visitors can explore a network of nine trails to discover magnificent views of the sea and mountains and observe abundant wildlife (black bears, porcupines, beavers, black-legged kittiwakes, cormorants, guillemots, seals and sometimes whales). Other activities available include sea cruises, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, sea or pool swimming, tennis, picnicking, cycling and horseback riding. Some activities can be book at the hostel.
In the winter, cross-country skiers can enjoy the network of over 40 km (25 mi.) of marked and mechanically maintained trails, with shelters all along the way. Other activities available include off-trail skiing (in the south section of the park), snowshoeing, winter camping and dogsledding.
