Centrally located near the downtown core, HI-Calgary City Centre is close to many of the city's best cultural, recreational, dining and shopping opportunities. We've got everything you'd expect from a large metropolitan hostel and pride ourselves in our exceptionally friendly front desk staff, several fun common areas and recently upgraded facilities!
Things to Do:
- Check out nearby Downtown; Stephen Ave, Mission, 17th Avenue (Uptown), Inglewood and Kensington, all of which have great shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs (use the free C-Train)
- Stroll along the River Valley Pathway to Eau Claire Market
- Spend the day with over 1,000 animals from across the globe at the Calgary Zoo (2nd biggest Zoo in Canada and voted 2nd best in North America).
- Spend the day at the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", the Calgary Stampede (July 7 - 17, 2011)
- Head over to the Saddledome for an NHL hockey game with the Calgary Flames or WHL hockey game with the Calgary Hitmen during regular season. - Explore Fish Creek Provincial Park, Canada's largest urban park
- Check out the Information Board in the lobby for local happenings!
- Step back in time at Fort Calgary and see how the Mounties really lived
- Check out Heritage Park (seasonal) and Glenbow Museum
- Visit Canada Olympic Park, home of the ski jump, bobsleigh and luge for the 1988 Olympics (open year round). In the summer, get guided tours, ski and board rentals, mountain biking and public luge rides
