What's On Whyte Avenue?
Independent live theatre and films, copious pubs and clubs along with a multitude of restaurants are all clustered together to form an unrivaled local arts and culture scene. Whyte Avenue is also home to many trendy shops and cafes, so if your pleasure is people watching and mixing with the coolest Edmontonians this is your type of destination. Recently, Whyte Avenue was named as one of the TOP 20 Streets in Canada and the hostel is only minute walk away!
Edmonton River Valley.
Feeling a little more than café adventurous, North America's longest continuous urban parkland is located only minutes from the hostel. The River Valley is Edmonton's jewel; here you will find urban wildlife and nature at its finest. Explore the area in the summer by cycling, running, walking, and hiking, canoeing or even trying a Segway Tour. Gather together some new friends that you'll likely meet at the hostel and enjoy the large urban parks with their pitted barbeques and volleyball courts. In the winter you can ski, sled, snow shoe, or learn to skate all around the river valley, dress warm!

HI-Edmonton is a fantastic accommodation option for backpackers, students and groups, in a safe, convenient and quiet location. The hostel features a large private garden and courtyard with BBQ and plenty of common areas including a large fully-equipped self-service kitchen, meeting room, library, TV room and games rooms.

The hostel is a short walk from public transit, making places like West Edmonton Mall, Fort Edmonton Park, Telus World of Science, and the Alberta Art Gallery only a bus ride away. Additionally the University of Alberta is only a few blocks north of the hostel, our location offers easy and affordable access for visiting research or student groups.
