Wilderness accommodation in Jasper National Park
The HI-Mount Edith Cavell Wilderness Hostel is affordable accommodation at the base of the 3,363-metre peak of Mt. Edith Cavell. This wilderness hostel is favourite with cyclists, hikers, walkers, cross country skiers and nature enthusiasts. The unique location of the hostel gives guests easy access to the breath taking views of Angel Glacier and Cavell Meadows. Many backcountry adventurists who stay at the hostel, use it as a base to explore the backcountry trails of the Tonquin Valley.
"Off-the-Grid" Wilderness Adventure.
No Running Water, No Showers, and No Flush Toilets. We do have purified water for cooking, a refrigerator, propane stoves and lights. Due to Parks Canada Woodland Caribou Conservation Action, there are some road closures throughout the year, also dogs are not permitted in the restricted area including the Tonquin Valley. World's Second Largest Dark Sky Preserve.
This is Dark Sky country, recently Jasper National Park was named the World's Largest Accessible Dark Sky Preserve. The skies are alive at in Jasper, clear nights guarantee perfect star gazing, lots of incredible chances to see the famous Northern Lights dance throughout the sky. You'll also be able to savour true silence, night skies bursting with stars and the knowledge that some of the world's most magnificent landscapes are, really, right outside our door.
Reservations and Cancellations.
Winter is Key Access only, click here for information >>. A credit card is needed when making reservations. Due to the lack of direct/reliable communication with the hostel, the Central Reservation Office is not able to make same day arrival reservations. Book ahead to avoid any disappointment as this smaller hostel is very popular both in winter and summer. 48 hours is required when cancelling individual reservations, please contact Central Reservations for more information.
