SHOES OFF IN THE SHUSWAP
Come out to the salmon spawning at Roderick Haig-Brown park, only 5km from the hostel. They salmon turn red and green when they are spawning. Join us in a traditional turkey dinner with potatoes, cranberries and all the fixings for only $10.00 per person on October 8, 2016.
Located in the historic Squilax General Store, HI-Shuswap Lake hostel sits on the beautiful Shuswap Lake, one of the province's most popular summer vacation destinations. We are ideally situated as a half-way point between Vancouver and Banff - only a five-hour drive each way.

Enjoy free canoeing at the hostel, eat the most amazing S'mores you'll ever make, explore the many hiking trails of the Shuswap with the help of a free hiking self-guided kit (day pack, binoculars, plant, bird, bug and mammal guide books) or take a 5 minute walk or canoe ride out to see some real beavers.
Of course, there's also the wharf - a fantastic hangout to get your daily dose of Vitamin D, take a 'wild' swim and enjoy the stunning scenery. Mountains, lakes and sun - what more could you ask for?
Stay in one of three, converted Canadian National cabooses as sleeping quarters. Each caboose has it's own kitchen, sitting area and toilet. The showers are located in the building next to the cabooses. Each room has an iPod/mp3/cd speakers and USB chargers. Member rates from $19.00/night and non-member rates from $23/night. Private rooms (non-caboose) also available from $46.00/night.
Relax in the lounge
Come hang out after a long day out in the sun in our hostel lounge. Catch a sporting event on our projection TV or just mingle with fellow travellers. Our lounge is a fantastic place to meet new people and share stories!
During your stay, check out some of our planned activities or one of the many events and festivals happening in the area. We proudly support the arts so our events schedule includes live music and art shows throughout the year.
The Squilax General Store sells single eggs, 1/2 litres of milk, fresh fruit, vegetables, local salmon and more. The store is 'Tante Emma' style featuring local and organic products. Enjoy the use a herb garden where guests are welcome to pick rhubarb, Saskatoon berries, gooseberries or apples.

To really, really find us, it is best to use our co-ordinates rather than postal code. The postal code will direct you to our snail mail box in Chase. The co-ordinates will take you directly to us... honest. Our co-ordinates are: Longitude -119,573666 and Latitude 50,872689. We are now on street view of Google maps, just search for Squilax, BC. Just move the yellow Man to the hostel. You will have to rotate 180 to see us. The hostel reception is in the Store.
Please note: Due to our remote location, internet access is challenging. Internet access is available on a charge-per-use basis and guests are required to pay a daily fee of $3.00. Access is available until 10pm and Wi-Fi is only available in the main lounge. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you can enjoy your time by the campfire and waterfront instead!
