Mondays

Granville Street Pub Crawl
A short wander around the entertainment district of Vancouver will bring you to a trio of pubs, all within easy stumbling distance. Nothing but good times. The night culminates at the infamous Roxy Night Club where Joe's Garage will be kicking the 1980s rock jams. No cover charges, the rest is up to you.

The tour starts at 8:30pm at HI-Central and ends when you see fit.  

Tuesdays

Erik's Tour - Lynn Canyon
Started in 1995, Erik's Tour is described in the Lonely Planet as 'legendary'. Become one of the 15,000 guests who have toured the city with Erik, enjoying the metropolitan sites and the local wilderness. It's a full-day walking tour to places you just won't see on your own. Join the delightful and enthusiastic Erik for the tour that is unquestionably the best bargain around.

The tour starts at 8:45am at HI-Downtown and lasts about 9 hours. It costs $12.50 which covers all your transportation.

Note: Erik's Tour runs from mid April until the 2nd week of November.

Comedy Night at the Comedy Mix
If you like to laugh, this night is for you. Join the group for free entry to Comedy Mix's Crash and Burn Night, showing off either new and untested comedians, or funny people with new material seeking both your laughter and pity. There is a professional host and a headliner, so you will always leave happy. And hey, it's free.

The group meets at 7:30pm at HI-Central. The show wraps up at 10:30pm.

Wednesdays

Granville Island Market and Brewery Tour
Experience the culture, food and history of Granville Island. An eclectic array of artists, buskers, green grocers, casual eateries, craft vendors, ethnic food sellers, importers, sweet stands, florists, fishmongers, butchers, bakers & candlestick makers. Then take a tour of the Granville Island Brewery and sample some of B.C.'s best beer.

The tour starts at 11:45am at HI-Downtown and lasts about 2 hours. The cost of the tour is $3.50 for the ferry ride ($1.75 each way). The brewery tour is an additional 45 minutes, is completely optional, and is $9.75 (student discounts available).

Pub Night
Our friends at Doolin's, Johnnie Fox's, The Two Parrots and The Forum will host an evening of drinking. You can't lose. No cover, but you buy your own drinks.

Meet the group at 8:30pm at HI-Central. The night last as long as you like.  

Thursdays

Seawall Bike Tour
Join us for a scenic ride around the Stanley Park Seawall! We'll supply you with a knowledgable guide to take you out and show you the sights. You just need to bring your cycling legs. It's a leisurely pace, so you don't need to be a great cyclist, but if you've never ridden a bike, this isn't the tour for you.

Meet the group at 3pm at HI-Downtown. The tour costs $15 for 2 hour bike rental, but is free if you have your own bike. Make sure to sign up in advance to ensure a bike as availability is limited, but accomodations can be made if you give us enough notice.

Jericho BBQ & Open Mic Night
We'll be hosting a tasty BBQ in the cafe at HI-Jeriocho Beach cafe from 5pm-7pm. A Beer and Burger combo will be happening for $11. Once the BBQ is over, the music starts. We'll have some locals coming in with their accoustic instruments to entertain and provide ambiance. If you still remember how to plan Stairway to Heaven, we'll have openings in the night for you to borrow a guitar and show the world your skills, too! And don't forget to check out the beach at sunset. We'll pause the music long enough to let you take in the setting sun going down over the Georgia Straight.

Meet the group at HI-Central at 5:30pm to be guided down to Jericho. You'll need $2.50 each way for bus fare. Open Mic wraps up at 11pm. 

Fridays

Erik's Tour - Capilano Canyon
Erik's second tour has no overlap to his first. Taking a different route, you'll be guided up the the Cleveland Dam and down through Capilano Canyon to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. You'll see tall, old Douglas fir trees, a salmon spawning ladder and get a view over the gorge from the canopy walks. It's a full day of exploration that will not only thrill you, but will save you money on admission to the Suspension Bridge.

The tour starts at 8:45am at HI-Downtown and lasts about nine hours. The tour costs $33 which covers admission to the Suspension Bridge and all transportation.

Club Night
What if we could get you free cover to The Bourbon and Shine? And what if I told you it was on a Friday night? And all you would have to do is sign up and then meet in the lobby of HI-Vancouver Central and then walk down to the spots with our volunteer? Well, that's what we're telling you. It's a really good deal!

The group meets at 8:30pm at HI-Central.

Saturdays

Karin's Chinatown & Main Street Mural Tour
As part of the Vancouver's 125th anniversary, artists were invited to submit mural ideas "that offer new perspectives on Vancouver and represent a range of Vancouver's diverse cultural communities, artistic practices and neighbourhoods." And now we have a local guide to show off the finished products to you! Join Karin for a walk around and see some of the great art the walls are wearing these days. There are also stops at a Chinese Bakery and some local beer sampling to be done.

The tour lasts 2.5 hours and is free, but you will need some money if you'd like to get some baked goods or beer.

Sundays

Bowen Island Tour
Located in scenic Howe Sound, Bowen Island is a sleepy island community with some beautiful, easy hiking. The tour takes you on the short ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island and then a couple hours of hiking around Killarney Lake. The tour stops at the local pub on the island before coming back downtown for around 6pm.

The tour starts at 9:15am at HI-Central and last about 8 hours. The tour is free, though you will need roundtrip bus fare ($5) and money for the ferry (roundtrip $11.20 for adults and $5.60 for children).     

Movie Night
You've probably had a busier weekend and want to wind down on Sunday night. So join the gang at HI-Downtown for Sunday night movies. Most weeks, you'll get a sparkling new release that were only just released on DVD! Other week, classic films or quality recent releases will be shown from our prestigious back catalogue.   

The movie goes on at 8pm (though something a little later in the summer). It's free to attend and we'll supply some popcorn and/or chips.
