Canada's Rocky Mountain Wilderness

Away from the busy centres of the Banff and Jasper townsites, halfway up the Icefields Parkway, HI-Rampart Creek Wilderness hostel awaits your visit.  The peaceful serenity of the vast unspoiled wilderness of Banff National Park is broken only by the sounds of the nearby creek splashing over the rocks, the breeze rustling the pine-scented forests or likely the light footsteps of deer walking past the hostel buildings. If all you are looking for an opportunity to relax and immerse yourself in nature's beauty, you need go no further than the front porch of the hostel, sit around our fire circle or walk through the woods to our sauna to experience it.

Step Out Our Door and into Nature.

Take any of the easy hikes only a few hundred yards from our hostel that lead to any number of unique experiences - a beaver dam and lodge; a stroll in the bottom of a 30-metre tall canyon; a brief hike that weaves its way up to a cliff top view of the majestic glacier-capped mountains that surround this valley. If you're up for half-day or full-day hikes, explore one of the nearby trails that will lead you up out of the montane valley and into the sub-alpine or even the alpine summits.

"Off-the-Grid" Wilderness Relaxation.

No Phone, No Electricity, No Showers and Outhouse toilets. Our electricity is generated by solar power and there's no running water. This is cabin-in-the-woods living and the lack of modern distractions inevitably facilitates the making of new friends and shared experiences and adventures.  Come see why this experience is treasured by so many of our visitors as the highlight of their Canadian Rockies tour.

Base Camp for all Climbers.

If your tastes trend to the extremely vertical, there are bolted sport-climbing routes only a five-minute walk from the hostel. For the experienced adventurer, this is a great basecamp for numerous world-class alpine routes.

Affordable Accommodation for all Groups.

Enjoy the opportunity to share uncommon experiences in common spaces with your family, friends, teams and groups at a reasonable rate. You can even rent the entire hostel for your activity or event and enjoy the privacy that comes with your own mountain chalet!

Reservations and Cancellations.

A credit card is needed when making reservations. Due to the lack of direct/reliable communication with the hostel, the Central Reservation Office is not able to make same day arrival reservations. Book ahead to avoid any disappointment as this smaller hostel is very popular both in winter and summer. 48 hours is required when cancelling individual reservations, please contact Central Reservations for more information.
