Half an hour west of Calgary, Kananaskis Country offers recreation for any outdoor enthusiast.  As an officially dedicated outdoor recreational area, Kananaskis offers over 4,000 square kilometers of foothills and mountains for exploration; including Spray Valley and Peter Lougheed Provincial Parks. Spring, Summer and Fall activities include mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing and even golfing. Winter enthusiasts can enjoy cross-country or downhill skiing, ice climbing, ice fishing, and snowshoeing, among other activities. 

Kananaskis is also home to the magnificent Mt. Lorette flyway, during migration season over 200 birds can be spotted overhead in a single day. The height of the migration occurs twice each year during Spring and Fall, with the best viewing times falling between March 10th to April 7th and September 23rd to October 21st
