Experience Canmore

Canmore has enviable geographic placement, no doubt about it. The town lies 90 minutes west of Calgary's International Airport and 5 minutes East of Banff National Park (20 minutes to the town site of Banff ).  Not to mention, Canmore is virtually nestled into the northwest corner of Kananaskis Country, which is home to a multitude of Provincial and Wildland Parks.

Spring & Fall in Canmore
The activities people enjoy in the summer and winter in Canmore can often also be enjoyed in both the spring and fall.  The spectacular seasonal transitions in the year are marked by breaktaking colour changes.  The fall colours of the larches full bodied and robust Reds, mixed with vibrantly shimmering Golds, are particularly attractive to photographers, while birders spend hours in October eyes skyward as the annual migration of the Eagles brings thousands of Raptors into the skies over Canmore and the Bow Valley.

Included in the overwhelming inventory list of attractive pursuits is Mountain Biking, Whitewater paddling/rafting, Heli sightseeing, Horseback riding, Caving, Climbing, Bird watching, guided interpretive hikes and wildlife watching.

Wildlife
Located amidst prime wildlife habitat, comprised of miles and miles of wildland, Canmore is home to a number of North America's largest mammals. Whatever they may be, it is critical that we respect and remember at all times these are wild animals in wild places. We are blessed, indeed privileged, to be able to share their space. For their safety and for ours, it is vital we appreciate them at a distance without approaching too closely. In and around Canmore it is possible that you will have the opportunity to see moose, elk, whitetailed and mule deer, big horn sheep, cougar, black and grizzly bear and beaver.
